Responsible Tourism Travel Policy of Dream Nepal Travels & Tours :
The Dream Nepal Group is a socially aware travel company, which endows with as much dedication to the society as it does to its true service. The company has a sister organization called – Discover Nepal – Not for Profit making – non governmental organization (NGO), which constantly contributes of it’s 10 % profit to the NGO for programmes like Education, Environment, Health & Tourism.

We take into consideration the triple-bottom-line approach to weight ecological, economic and social aspects when we plan provide or promote tourism related services to form a basis for our company’s commitment to sustainability.
As travellers, it is about choosing “green” holiday that can be as adventurous and educational at the same time helping to reduce environmental impact and making contribution that benefits the local community.
Our Policy, Our Role:
1) Economic: Give back to the local communities.
- We promote trips that are offered by local suppliers and communities
- We ensure that the returns from the trips featured in our website are generated back to the host communities through services such as guide, accommodation and transportation
- We ensure that local guides are being engaged to provide better interpretative experiences
- We involve local communities where possible in our operations
- We purchase, where possible, local products
2) Environment: Ensure that we minimize our impact on the environment and help to conserve
- We adhere to local conditions and limits set by local carrying capacity for trips and host destination that we market
- We encourage our guests to take trips during the off-peak period to prevent over straining resources
- We will contract only with suppliers, such as hotels, tour operators that are able to take into account the environment impact of their activities
- We encourage our guests to contribute to My Climate to offset their emission
3) Social: Fulfilling our social responsibility
- We will actively promote and raise awareness of responsible tourism and travel practices among travellers through our website, literature and presentations
- Travellers who booked through our website will receive information on the destination prior to their trips, so to understand and respect the culture and environment of the host destination
- We provide our staff with regular and ongoing training, in the principles and practices of responsible tourism to ensure that the policy is put into practice
- We will take into consideration economic, environmental and social issues when looking at new product and destinations
- We will work together with our local partners in the host destinations to implement the responsible tourism guidelines and work out how these standards can be met
- We support local projects that are related to environmental conservation and local community development
- We buy souvenirs and handicrafts from local communities for our online store and corporate gifts
Within our operations:
As it has to start from our own backyard, within our office, we practice the 3Rs principle - Reduction, Re-use and Recycling
- We recycle paper, glass and cans after use
- We recycle ink and toner cartridges
- We try to reduce paper consumption and keep waste to a minimum by using e-mail where appropriate, rather than faxing or writing, use both sides of the papers for printing when required and send e-cards instead of buying paper cards
- We reduce usage of paper for printing of literature instead we use our website to communicate
- We use 100% recycled paper for printing of our literature and marketing materials
- We aim to conserve and reduce our energy consumption through improving management systems and using equipment with lower energy use
- We use public transport, cycle or walk rather than using a car to get to work and meetings.
Your role:
As a traveller, you play a very important role in ensuring the well being of the local people and destinations you visit.
- If you travel by air, offset the environmental impact of emissions by purchasing a my climate ticket
- Help preserve natural environments. Protect wildlife and habitats and do not purchase products made from endangered plants or animals
- We encourage you to join our trips during the off-peak period to prevent over straining resources, you'll also avoid the crowds
- Respect social and cultural traditions and practices
- Let the local people know that you appreciate pristine nature being there, so that they see its economic value
- Your trip can contribute to economic and social development. Purchase local handicrafts and products to support the local economy using the principles of fair trade
- Bargaining for goods should reflect an understanding of a fair wage
